How to Disable Advertising Tracking on Windows 11

On Windows 11, your system is assigned a unique advertising identification number that allows advertising companies to track your activities and show you personalized ads within certain apps. While personalized ads can sometimes be useful in discovering products and services of interest, others may view this as a privacy concern.

If you prefer not to receive personalized ads based on your behavior, Windows 11 provides an option to disable the tracking ID. This will still allow you to see ads in different apps, but they won't be personalized to your interests.

Follow these steps to disable advertising tracking on Windows 11 apps:

    Step 01: Open Settings:

    • Click on the Start button and select "Settings."

Step 02: Access Privacy & Security Settings:

    • In the Settings app, navigate to "Privacy & security."

Step 03: Navigate to Windows Permissions:

    • Under Privacy & security, click on the "General" tab.

    Step 04: Disable Personalized Ads:

    • Find the option labeled "Let apps show me personalized ads by using my advertising ID."
    • Toggle off the switch to disable personalized ad tracking.

By completing these steps, Windows 11 will no longer display personalized advertisements based on your behavior within apps that utilize this unique advertising identification. Please note that this option will not prevent Google from showing personalized ads. In such cases, you will need to disable personalization directly from your Google account settings online.
